Anything works!

On Friday, September 15th, Park(ing) Day will be celebrated around the globe. As many of you may know, Park(ing) Day is a global initiative to promote the importance of greenspace in everyday urban environments. This year, ILASLA has selected site to design and build our very own ILASLA Park(ing) Day parklet! The design was submitted last year during our sketch contest and celebrates Chicago’s iconic lakefront path with a human scale “hamster wheel” that simulates the lakefront trail experience in miniature.

The parklet will be installed in two parking spots on the southwest corner of 8th Street and Wabash Avenue in front of Peet’s Coffee. ILASLA is looking for volunteers on September 15th to sit in the parklet, welcome passersby, and make sure they use the wheel safely.

But, wait - we also need help with the build! Please contact us at the email below. We would need you either this Sunday or next Wednesday at Clarence Davids in Matteson, IL!

Please email [email protected] if you have any questions.
